Imagine you are attending an important audition, this will be your connection to Casting Directors and many other industry professionals.
Make sure you feel fresh on the day. Get a good sleep the night before and avoid alcohol.
Make sure your hair is neat and clothes are ironed. Please bring a variety of tops, simple necklines work best so not to distract from your face. Also avoid bold patterns.
Be on time! I only book two sessions per day to allow for comfortable sessions but I cannot make up for lost time. Feeling happy, in control and not rushed will be far more beneficial to your final headshots.
Email a link to your Spotlight page or other online links so I have a clear idea of your look. Also, examples of particular styles you like can be useful. We can access any online profiles from here to save you bringing laptops or extra items.
What should I wear?
Make sure you are comfortable. Please bring a selection of tops and a variety of colours but I would recommend keeping it plain rather than busy patterns. T-shirts have the advantage of a simple neckline but shirts and other tops can help give different looks.
Should I wear make up?
Whichever you prefer. If you would go to an audition with makeup, then try and keep the same look. The trend at the moment is a very natural look in headshots. Feel your best but stay honest to your look.
Anything else I should think of?
Just look forward to it. Bring some clothes you like and have an idea of what you would like to achieve. I guarantee you will feel at ease and enjoy it, every session I’ve shot has been full of chatting and laughter. We’ll probably know a fair amount about each other by the end and it’s feeling comfortable that will get the best headshots.
Every detail is key to producing the best headshots and I am aware of this throughout every session. Whether it is editing the photos afterwards or the small touches during the shoot, my aim is to ensure nothing is missed.
In terms of editing, I keep retouching to a minimum as Casting Directors and Agents prefer that your headshot is true to your natural look. I recreate lighting similar to that used on film & TV and can remove any unnecessary distractions or blemishes.
